How can we help?

What happens if I don't pay my toll demand notice?

If you travel on a toll road without a valid toll account or pass, you'll receive a toll notice in the mail. Avoid paying additional fees by paying for toll road travel as soon as possible. If payment isn't received, we may need to take further steps.

Payment timeline

The below timeline outlines the events that happen if you do not pay for your toll travel in Queensland. Diagram displaying timeline of payment events for unpaid tolls, text description found below

When you've travelled without a tag, pass or valid account

You have two options to pay for your trip:

  • Purchase a road pass - to pay for your recent travel and cover trips made up to 3 days ago.
  • Open an account - to pay for your recent travel and cover trips made up to 9 days ago.
Info
To avoid a $10.53 admin fee, pay for your trip within 9 days of travel

If you don't purchase a pass or open an account within 10 days of travel

  • You will receive a toll invoice - this will include your toll amount plus an additional $10.53 admin fee plus $0.60 vehicle matching fee. You will have 14 days to pay.

  • If you do not pay, you will receive a Notice of Demand - this will include your toll amount plus an increased admin fee of $29.50 plus a $0.60 vehicle matching fee. You will have 32 days to pay.

  • If you do not pay, Linkt will contact you for payment - Linkt will try to contact you via either letter, phone, email or SMS. This may include contact from our debt collection agencies.

  • If you ignore Linkt, you will then either:
    • Start a civil debt recovery process - if you are contacted by a debt collection agency and do not pay, the matter may go to court.
    • Receive an infringement notice - the fee will now be $225 for each infringement notice from Brisbane City Council or the Queensland Tolling Offence Unit. You will have 28 days to pay.
Info
Linkt Assist will no longer be available to you for financial support once you receive an infringement notice or the matter goes to court

If you receive an infringement notice

If you do not pay your unpaid demand notices, you will receive an infringement notice from Brisbane City Council or the Queensland Tolling Offence Unit.

  • The fee will increase to $225 for an infringement notice.
  • If you do not pay, you will receive an penalty reminder notice. The infringement notice will go to the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER). The fee will now be $225 plus a registration fee of $78.20.
  • If you do nothing, enforcement may include:
    • License suspension
    • Clamp, seize and sell your vehicle
    • Take money form your pay or bank account
    • Register an interest over your property
    • There is an enforcement fee of $131.05
