You’re invited to help name the new West Gate Tunnels to celebrate the unique culture, heritage, and stories of Melbourne’s west, and go into a draw to win a $500 Shell Gift Card.
The winner will also get to nominate a community organisation or charity for a $2,500 donation.
What are we naming?
The two tunnels will play a key role in connecting communities and improving travel in and around Melbourne's western suburbs, as well as creating new connections with Melbourne's CBD and the Port of Melbourne.
- 2.8 km inbound tunnel from the West Gate Freeway to the Maribyrnong River, for drivers going to the city
- A 4 km outbound tunnel from the Maribyrnong River to the West Gate Freeway near to Altona North, for drivers heading to Melbourne's western suburbs and beyond.
How to enter
Submit your ideas for names that reflect the spirit of Melbourne's west. All you need to do is provide your name suggestion and a short explanation of why it's meaningful.
