What happens if I don't pay?
If you travel on a toll road without a valid toll account or pass, you'll receive a toll notice in the mail. Avoid paying additional fees by paying for toll road travel as soon as possible. If payment isn't received, we may need to take further steps.
Payment timeline
The below timeline outlines the events that happen if you do not pay for your toll travel in NSW.
When you've travelled without a tag, pass or valid account
You have two options to pay for your trip:
- Purchase one of our passes - to pay for your recent travel and cover trips made 3-5 days ago (cover Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel trips made up to 3 days ago, and all other Sydney toll road trips made up to 5 days ago).
- Open an account - you have up to 9 days from your date of travel to open an account.
If you don't purchase a pass or open an account within 10 days of travel
- You will receive a toll invoice - this will include your toll amount plus an additional $10.00 admin fee. You will have 14 days to pay.
- If you do not pay, you will receive a final toll notice - this will include your toll amount plus an increased admin fee of $20.00. You will have 14 days to pay.
- If you do not pay, Linkt will send reminders for unpaid notices via email or SMS.
- If you do not pay, Linkt will contact you for payment - if you have 3+ unpaid notices, Linkt will try to contact you via either letter, phone, email or SMS. This may include contact from our debt collection agencies.
If you receive an infringement notice
If you do not pay your unpaid notices, you will receive an infringement notice. Your matter will now be managed by Revenue NSW.
- If you receive an infringement notice the fee will increase to $211.
- If you do not pay, you will receive an overdue fine. The fee will increase to $263.
- If you do not pay, Revenue NSW could then:
- Suspend your license
- Suspend or prevent vehicle registration
- Garnish wages and/or bank account
- Put a charge against or sell your property
Avoid fees and fines by paying your toll notice by the due date. You can pay a toll notice online, by using the Linkt app or in person. If you are having difficulty paying your tolls, we may be able to help.
