Buying a pass
How passes work
A Road Pass is a simple way to pay for short-term Queensland toll road use. A pass can be opened for 1 day, 30 days or anything in between. Whenever you pass through a toll point, our cameras will read your licence plate number and link it to your pass.
You can buy a pass before you travel or within 5 days days of your trip to avoid a toll demand notice.
There's no need to display a pass in your car, but you may want to keep the receipt for your records.
How much does a Road Pass cost?
When you first buy your pass, we take a $1.00 security payment to ensure your credit card is valid. This is added to your pass as toll credit.
The total amount you’ll pay will depend on the toll road charges you incur for the duration of the pass. You will pay the cost of any tolls plus a video matching fee of $0.60 for each trip.
How to buy a pass
Road Pass
If you need to pay a one-off toll or use Queensland toll roads for a short time, a Road Pass is the way to go.
You can buy a road pass online. You'll need to provide:
- your contact details, including name, address, email and phone number
- the licence plate number, make and model of at least one vehicle
- credit or debit card details for making payments
You can use our product selector to help you choose which pass is right for you.
If you'd like your tolls to be debited from your bank account, consider opening an account. You'll still need a credit or debit card, but you can set up direct debit for ongoing payments.
Toll Credit Pass
A Toll Credit Pass gives you pre-paid credit to use on Queensland toll roads for up to three years. You can only assign one licence plate number to each Toll Credit Pass.
Passes come in preset amounts of $10, $20 or $50. They can’t be topped up or extended, but you can backdate them by up to three days.
A single Toll Credit Pass will cover all your travel, up to the amount you've purchased, for a period of 3 years from date of purchase.
Toll Credit Passes can only be purchased from participating United Petroleum, Puma or newsagent outlets. Find a Toll Credit Pass retailer

How are trips charged?
Trips are automatically charged to your credit card after you travel. Most trips are processed and billed within 3 days but in some circumstances it may take a little longer.
We may take a final credit card payment 21 days after your road pass has closed to cover any tolls and fees for trips that took longer to process.
If no travel is made using your pass, the $1.00 security payment will be refunded to you approximately 21 days after your pass ends.
Travelling longer term?
If you’ll be using toll roads on a regular basis you may want to consider one of our account options.
A Tag account has direct debit and credit card payment options, while a Tagless account offers easy credit card auto payments.
