Tags and travel
What is a tag?
A tag is an electronic device that that beeps when you travel through a toll point and enables us to accurately calculate your tolls when you travel on a toll road. It attaches to the inside of your windscreen and emits a beeping sound whenever your vehicle passes through a toll point.
Travelling with a tag
If you have a Prepaid, Postpaid or Commercial account, using a correctly installed tag can help you avoid paying video matching fees for your trips. A Linkt tag will work on any toll road in Australia.
You can order one tag for each vehicle you add to your account, and you can also swap a tag between vehicles of the same vehicle class.
Keep in mind that for each vehicle class (Car, LCV, HCV), the number of tags you have cannot be more than the number of vehicles on your account. If you have any spare tags when linking a new vehicle, you’ll be prompted to order a new tag holder instead of a new tag.
If you have lost or misplaced tags, you’ll need to report them lost or stolen before being able to order a new tag for your vehicle.
Motorcycles don't need a tag and won't be charged video matching fees.
Tags for commercial accounts
If you have a Commercial account, you can choose to allocate tags to vehicles in your fleet. Allocating tags to vehicles can make it easier to reconcile trips with vehicles in your fleet. You can have an unlimited number of tags on a Commercial Account.

Using passes
When you buy a pass, you will need to register your license plate number so that we can match your toll road travel to your pass.
You can’t use tags if you're using passes to cover your toll road travel.
Tagless travel with an account
As long as your licence plate number is linked to your account, you will be charged a video matching fee for each trip. This fee may differ on interstate toll roads.
If your licence plate number isn't registered to your account, you may receive a toll invoice or notice and be charged additional fees. For your trips to be correctly charged, you need to ensure that your vehicle's are added to the account and the license plate number is correct. You can do this by logging in online.
