How can we help?

What is the toll credit program?

The toll credit program supports Linkt customers experiencing financial difficulties. It provides a one-time credit to help cover essential toll road travel costs when a free alternative route isn’t reasonably possible. Eligible customers receive this credit directly to their Linkt account.

Am I eligible for the toll credit program?

You may be eligible for support if you:

  • Are experiencing financial hardship

  • Have a Linkt account

  • Need help to pay for essential toll road travel

Examples of essential toll road travel:

  • Primary carer for an immediate family member, travelling for caring responsibilities and can’t take a free alternative route

  • Attending a job interview but transport options are limited because of medical reasons or caring responsibilities

  • Travelling to and from hospital for treatment, or to visit or take a family member/friend

  • Leaving a family violence situation for safety reasons, which may include staying with family/friends or accessing ‘safe’ accommodation

Examples of non-essential toll road travel that are not eligible for toll credit:

  • Visiting a parent, relative, significant other or friend at their home

  • Business related travel

  • Taking kids to school or childcare

  • Travelling to and from your place of study or placement

  • Making non-essential toll road travel when receiving Centrelink benefits e.g. disability support pension, age pension.

How do I apply?

To apply for toll credit support, please get in touch with our Linkt Assist team on 1300 767 865. If you’re unable to reach us by phone, an online application form is also available.

Please note that if you’re experiencing financial hardship and using the toll road is essential for your situation, applications will be considered on a case by case basis. If you’re ineligible for the toll credit program, you may still be able to access other support from Linkt Assist to help with toll debt.

Common questions

  • What type of toll credit support is available?

Toll credit support is a one-off credit, available as one of the support services through our Linkt Assist team. Support is available for Linkt customers experiencing financial difficulty to cover the cost associated with essential toll road travel, where taking a free alternative route is not reasonably possible.

Some examples of travel that may be eligible for toll credit support include

    • Emergency situations including medical emergencies, natural disasters, family violence,
    • Travel to and from medical treatments or support services for serious conditions,
    • Caring or visiting family members or co-dependents with a serious medical condition

The toll credit support is not available for non-essential toll road travel including trips that can be taken on a free alternate route for activities required in everyday life, such as shopping, non-urgent or standard medical appointments, school or childcare, or going to work.

  • How do the credits work?

We’ll assess your request and email or advise you over the phone with the outcome of your application. If your application has been successful, the confirmation email will also include the credit amount you’ll receive. This one-off credit will be applied automatically to your account within 48 hours after approval. Your outstanding toll road trips will be deducted from the one-off credit balance that has been applied to your account.

  • What if my application is unsuccessful?

Even though your application for toll credit support may not have been approved, we’ll provide you with information about other Linkt Assist services that may suit your situation.

  • Do I need to have a Linkt account to be eligible?

Yes. You need to have a valid Linkt account at the time you apply. If you do not have an account, we can help you to set one up.

  • What about trips I’ve already taken?

Any credit will be applied to your account and can be used to cover a negative balance, or Toll Invoices that can be transferred to your account for trips you've already taken.

  • What if I’m still experiencing financial difficulty after my credit is exhausted?

You can submit another application and we’ll re-assess your current situation. Our broader Linkt Assist program also has a range of support services available to help customers including more time to pay, fee waivers and payment plans. Please note we will be considering every application that is submitted, so it may take us some time to get back to you. To apply, you can call us or complete the Linkt Assist form or find out more about other Linkt Assist services.

  • How do I receive the toll credit?

To apply for toll credit support, call us to discuss what support is available or complete the Linkt Assist form. Please note we will be considering every application that is submitted, so it may take us some time to get back to you.

  • How long is this support available?

The toll credit support is an ongoing service available through our Linkt Assist program for customers who are experiencing financial difficulty to cover the cost of essential toll road travel.

  • I have two vehicles on my Linkt account. Can I receive a toll credit for both vehicles?

The toll credit applies at an account level, so any travel taken by vehicles on your account will use the credit we apply. If your credit is exhausted, you’re still experiencing financial difficulties and need to complete essential toll road travel, you’ll need to reapply.

  • I am currently receiving toll credits as part of the Toll Credit Program, will I automatically receive toll credits going forward?

No. Toll credits are applied as a one-off support. You’ll need to reapply for toll credit support if you’re still experiencing financial difficulty and need to take essential toll road trips.

  • I don’t meet the toll credit criteria, but I am having difficulties paying for my tolls. Can I still access support from Linkt Assist?

Yes. Customers who meet the existing criteria for Linkt Assist will continue to receive support from the Linkt Assist team. To apply, call us to discuss your situation or complete the Linkt Assist form. Please note we will be considering every application that is submitted, so it may take us some time to get back to you.
