Peak and off-peak times for heavy commercial vehicles
Heavy commercial vehicles (HCVs) are charged at peak or off-peak rates – which are based on when you travel. A 33% discount applies during the off-peak period.
Peak travel – From 6am to 8pm
Off-peak travel – From 8pm to 6am
Depending on the time you travel, part of your trip may be charged at the peak rate and another part at the off-peak rate.
Charges for trips in heavy commercial vehicles
Heavy commercial vehicle trips are charged for the lesser value of either:
The (distance based) toll price at peak or off-peak rates, or
The peak trip cap or off-peak trip cap
Peak and off-peak trip caps
Trip caps are the maximum charge for a single continuous trip on CityLink. Trip caps apply when it’s cheaper than the toll prices in your trip.
The time you exit your last toll point determines if you pay a peak trip cap or an off-peak trip cap.
For example:
If you exit at 6.10am (peak), the maximum charge will be $36.00 (peak trip cap)
If you exit at 8.10pm (off-peak), the maximum charge will be $24.00 (off-peak trip cap)
