Why have I received an overdue toll notice email, SMS or phone call reminder?

Overdue toll notice reminders are sent via email, SMS or phone call when a vehicle registered in your name travelled on a Sydney toll road without a valid toll account or pass. This reminder is a follow-up to an unpaid toll notice or final toll notice that was posted to the vehicle’s registered address. Transport for NSW (TfNSW) provided your contact details to us in accordance with clause 133 of the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2017 (NSW) and clause 104A of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2017 (NSW) and we use these contact details in accordance with the Transurban Privacy Policy. Find out more

What happens if I don't pay?

If your toll notice is overdue, you need to pay the overdue toll notice right away to avoid further action and additional fees. If you do not pay, your overdue toll notices may be referred to a debt collection agency. Below outlines the steps and timeline of events when you do not pay for your travel.

Diagram which outlines the events that happen if you do not pay for your toll travel in Sydney including additional fees.

When you've travelled without a tag, pass or valid account

You have two options to pay for your trip:

  • Purchase one of our passes - to pay for your recent travel and cover trips made 3-5 days ago  (cover Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel trips made up to 3 days ago, and all other Sydney toll road trips made up to 5 days ago).
  • Open an account - you have up to 9 days from your date of travel to open an account.

If you don't purchase a pass or open an account within 10 days of travel

  • You will receive a toll invoice - this will include your toll amount plus an additional $10.00 admin fee. You will have 21 days to pay.

  • If you do not pay, you will receive a final toll notice - this will include your toll amount plus an increased admin fee of $20.00. You will have 21 days to pay.

  • If you do not pay, Linkt will send reminders for unpaid notices via email or SMS.

  • If you do not pay, Linkt will contact you for payment - if you have 3+ unpaid notices, Linkt will try to contact you via either letter, phone, email or SMS. This may include contact from our debt collection agencies.

If you receive an infringement notice

Your matter will now be managed by Revenue NSW.

  • If you do not pay, you will receive an infringement notice. The fee will increase to $211.
  • If you do not pay, you will receive an overdue fine. The fee will increase to $263.
  • If you do not pay, Revenue NSW could then:
    • Suspend your license
    • Suspend or prevent vehicle registration
    • Garnish wages and/or bank account
    • Put a charge against or sell your property
