Restrictions for placarded vehicles and dangerous goods
To ensure tunnel safety, the following vehicles are not permitted in tunnels:
- Vehicles and loads exceeding 4.6m in height
- Vehicles carrying commercial quantities of dangerous goods
- Any vehicle displaying a dangerous goods placard
- Mopeds
- Tractors
Vehicles travelling with dangerous goods, including dangerous liquids, are not permitted in tunnels. This includes on ramps or connections to tunnels such as Sydney Gateway.
Vehicles that carry dangerous goods are required by law to display the relevant placard. Placarded vehicles are not allowed in Linkt's road tunnels.
Whenever possible, you should avoid transporting dangerous goods through tunnels, especially dangerous liquids. Spilled loads are extremely dangerous and could lead to traffic accidents. The contents of paint tins, jerry cans and other liquid substances could also enter the tunnels' drainage systems and cause pollution.
