How passes work

A pass is a convenient option if you only use toll roads occasionally. Whenever you pass through a toll point, our cameras will read your licence plate number and link it to your pass. When your accrued tolls and fees reach $10 or more, we’ll deduct them from your credit card.

You can buy a pass before you travel or within 5 days of your Citylink trip to avoid a toll notice.

How to buy a pass

You can pay for all our passes online with an accepted credit or debit card, including the:

  • Weekend Pass
  • 24 Hour CityLink Pass or 24 Hour Tulla Pass
  • Visitor's Pass

All passes, except for the Visitor’s Pass, can also be purchased in person with cash or card.

Visitor’s Pass information

With a Visitor's Pass, you pay for your travel on CityLink and EastLink as you go – your tolls will be charged at the end of each day you travel. You can cover CityLink trips made up to 5 days ago, and EastLink trips made up to 3 days ago. There are no limits on how many Visitor's Passes you can buy each year. Our Visitor’s Pass has a set opening fee of $3.50 online or $5.00 over the phone.

Additional costs on your pass could be:

  • Payment card surcharges
  • Video matching fees ($0.35 - $0.55) – we use tolling cameras to identify your vehicle's licence plate number whenever you travel through a toll point
  • Standard toll charges – these are charged at the end of each day of travel and are based on you trips

Citylink & Weekend Passes information

With Citylink and Weekend passes you get unlimited travel for a set price for the duration of your pass, on the section of CityLink covered by your pass. Choose between full access (CityLink Pass) or limited access (Tulla Pass) from Flemington Road to Bulla Road for travel within a 24 hour period, or purchase a Weekend Pass for unlimited CityLink travel from midday Friday to midnight Sunday.

You can purchase a combined total of 12 CityLink passes per vehicle in a 12 month period, including our:

  • CityLink Weekend Pass
  • 24 Hour CityLink Pass
  • 24 Hour Tulla Pass

IMPORTANT: Weekend Pass and CityLink 24 Hour Pass does not cover travel on EastLink.

Buying a pass after you’ve bought a used vehicle

If you've bought a second hand vehicle and you want to reset the annual limit, we can do that for you — you just need to send us:

  • A VicRoads Transfer of Registration document, or
  • A Victoria Police Statutory Declaration

Once you have one of these documents, you can ask us to reset your vehicle's annual pass limit by contacting us.

Travelling longer term?

If you’ll be using toll roads on a regular basis you may want to consider one of our account options.

A Prepaid account allows to make manual or auto top ups, while a Postpaid account offers easy credit card auto payments.
