If your vehicle’s purpose of use has changed, it’s important that you let us know so we can make sure your tolls are being charged correctly.
What’s a purpose of use?
The purpose of use listed on your vehicle’s registration describes how it’s allowed to be used. Common purposes of use include:
- private (eg: utes or vans used for private use instead of commercial)
- commercial (eg: utes or vans involved in commercial activities)

When do you need to update your purpose of use with Linkt?
If your vehicle is either a Class 2 or Class 3 commercial vehicle, and its purpose of use has changed, you need to notify both the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Linkt. If your vehicle is a car or a motorcycle, you do not need to let us know if its purpose of use changes.
